At El Paso Leadership Academy, Advisory is more than just a period on the schedule—it’s a foundation for connection, leadership, and growth. Through our unique Advisory model, we equip scholars with the tools they need to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally—while building lifelong skills in teamwork and leadership.

Middle School Advisory: Cohort Connection & Character Building

In Middle School, Advisory is designed to foster deep peer connections and a strong sense of belonging. Each scholar is placed in a cohort advisory group that stays together throughout the school year.Within this consistent, small-group setting, scholars:
  • Build strong peer relationships
  • Participate in restorative circles and social-emotional learning activities
  • Receive personalized mentoring and goal-setting support
  • Engage in a Leadership and Character Building curriculum that teaches core values like responsibility, empathy, perseverance, and integrity
This curriculum lays the groundwork for each scholar’s future, equipping them with the confidence and character needed to lead as they enter high school.

Our goal is to ensure every scholar feels seen, heard, and supported during their critical middle school years.
High School Advisory: The House System

High School Advisory takes a bold step forward with our dynamic House System—a school-wide structure that instills leadership, service, and school pride. All high school scholars are sorted into distinct Houses, each with its own identity, values, and traditions. This system promotes:
  • Positive competition through spirit events, service projects, and academic challenges
  • Collaboration across grade levels, creating a sense of unity and mentorship
  • Leadership development, as scholars take active roles in shaping House activities and mentoring their peers
  • A sense of ownership and pride in building a strong, vibrant school culture—by the scholars, for the scholars
Many of our House leaders are scholars who began their journey in Middle School Advisory—bringing with them the leadership mindset and values developed during their earlier years.

Whether forming close-knit middle school bonds or leading their House to victory in high school, our scholars grow as empathetic, capable leaders—prepared not just for the next grade level, but for life.

We believe every scholar deserves a space to be known, challenged, and celebrated.
That’s what Advisory at EPLA delivers.
